摘要

Glass electrode is filled with a non-aq. soln. comprising 10-1-10-2M di-n-octylamine and perchloric acid in dichloromethane into which is plunged a silver wire. The soln. is prepd. by dissolving the di-n-octylamine in the dichloromethane, then neutralising the rest of the octylamine which has not reacted with the dichloromethane, with anhydrous perchloric acid. The glass electrode is used in association with an external reference electrode of Ag/Ag3I4. The electrode can be used for determination of the acidity of an acid. Non-aq. solns. give improved accuracy. The solvent does not limit the range of solutes to the acidity scale of pH 1-14, as does water.
