Veterinary compsns. consist of aerosol foams contg. one or more active components, one or more hydroxylated or polyoxyethylene deriv. of alginic acid as a film-former, and an optional compatible adjuvant. For application to cows udders by injection into the teats. The compn. is more stable than current formulations, e.g. contg. higher fatty acids, in presence of lactic secretions. Better tolerated by mucosal surfaces, and diffuses readily into tissues to be treated. May also be used in vagina and uterus.
