The holder, for a lamp or fuse, has a threaded outer tube to accept the base of the lamp. The fixed contact is located at the bottom of the tube and is screened by two pivoted discs. The discs are pivoted at diametrically opposite points and have holes in them that allow the axial contact in the lamp base to meet the contact in the holder only when the lamp is screwed into the holder. When the lamp is out, the discs cover the contact in the holder and prevent access to it, e.g. by someone's finger. The discs are oval and their holes are eccentric.
