Mooring lines for floating platforms - with a self tensioning device

The mooring device is used for floating platforms with vertical legs and ensures that the tension on each line is kept constant. It shortens the time taken to moor, or re-moor the platform and simplifies the methods of stoving unused cable. The mooring cables are taken from stowage-lockers in the legs to the deck capstans, and led by blocks to the bottom caisson and hence to the mooring anchors. The cables pass through a slot in a cylinder which is mounted around each leg. The cylinders are filled with liq. so as to give them acceptable buoyancy, and by raising one by a fixed amt. the tension on the cable is maintained.
