Sealing joint for injection moulding sole onto upper of sandal - avoiding rough edges and allowing use of standard mould for different models

Removable seal which provides sealing during injection moulding of a sole onto the upper of a sandal comprises a separate plate of flexible material, e.g. rubber or plastics material, which is slightly larger than the sole and which is introduced between the last and the upper. The flexible plate protrudes in the open regions of the upper to provide a seal between the mould and last. For use with different types of sandal, the same mouls is used, and only the flexible plate is cut to conform to the open regions of the sandal.
