Heat recuperation system for open hearth fire - has cool air ducts each side of fire and discharging into room through hood

A method of recuperating part of the waste heat from an open fire which has a log fire on a hearth positioned forwards of the chimney, with a hood projecting from the chimney breast, uses an air entry underneath the hearth and passing upward wards through a duct each side. The combustion gases and smoke travels upwards through a chimney portion between the ducts. In this way, the cold air is heated by the heat from the combustion gases, the efficiency being increased by a set of baffle plates inside each duct. The heated air is then discharged forwards into the room through a bend at the top of each duct, passing through the hood.
