The domestic refuse disposal bin (6) contains a pivoting bucket (8) which ejects the refuse into a chute. The pivoting of the bucket is effected by lowering the bin lid (3), and the chute leads to dust bins on the ground floor. The bin (6) is of box form with a horizontal top (3, 4) which hinges (5) to form the lid. the bucket pivots relative to a horizontal axle (9), and is pivoted by means of a vertical push rod (10). The rod is pinned to a lever arm (12) which is built onto the axle (9), and is mounted (14, 15) to slide vertically on one of the side walls of the bin. When the bin lid (3) is lowered the rod (10) is pushed down and effects pivoting of the bin into the inverted eject station.
