Automatic tail flap for tipping lorry - is opened by pivoting rods as load bucket tips

The automatic tail-flap is for e.g. a tipping lorry. It comprises two arms (16) which are pivotally attached to the sides of the load bucket (4) about an axis (PP) parallel to the tipping axis (BB) of the bucket (4). The arms (16) are connected at one end to the chassis (1) via pivoting rods (17) while the other ends support the tail-flap (13) about a hinge axis (HH) which lies parallel to the tipping axis (BB) of the bucket (4) and is situated above the centre of gravity (G) of the tail-flap (13) when closed. On tipping, the arms cause the tail-flap (13) to rise w.r.t. the load bucket (4).
