Automated prodn. line for folding and stacking pancakes - without tearing them although received immediately from cooking

Each pancake is conveyed through supplying sprays and a steam tunnel, folded in half upon itself by gravity and without otherwise stressing it, part-dried in an air current, folded in half for a second time at right angles in the first fold, again using virtually stress-free gravity forces only, conveyed flat to a counting station which positions it as required and stacked in a pile which is conveyed away for packing. The first fold is pref., made by lowering the pancake from a continuously advancing belt on to a belt travelling initially in the opposite direction but which reverses after half the pancake is transferred to it. The second fold is pref. made by hanging the once-folded pancake over a conveyor rope.
