Multi-element mechanical resonant filter - has coupling rods which are secured in their resonators by tight fitting pin

A mechanical resonant filter consists of two parallel rows of resonators coupled by rods between the elements of each row. The design is intended to give a reliable and tight fit between the coupling and resonant elements. Each resonant element (1), made up in an alloy such as nickel-iron, has a hole (3) drilled through it approx at right angles to the entry angle of the two couplers (2) associated with it. Each coupling rod entering the element on either side of this hole has its own fixing hole (4, 5) drilled out such that breaks into the first hole. The resonators are secured by an adhesive or solder and locked by driving a pin (6) through the hole (3) so that it bears on both coupling rods.
