Transverse wedge rolling mill - with transfer mechanism at end of reciprocating top over bottom plate with raised wedges

A transverse wedge rolling mill for the production of stepped shafts has a top plate which can be reciprocated in guides above a bottom plate by a rack-and-pinion drive. Both the top and the bottom plate have facing wedge shaped forming strips, with the apices of the tapers on opposite sides. A traversing device at one end of the rolling mill can shift the workpiece from the starting forming strip to the finishing forming strip. The rolling mill has a reduced length. It has a higher productivity than conventional designs and combines a wider technological range with better dimensional accuracy.
