The shaft coupling comprises a tube (12) at the ends of which are two stubs (41, 42). The tube contains balls (2) which have diametrically opposed perpendicular slots receiving coupling keys (3). The tube may have a flexible portion and at least one rigid elbow portion. The keys (3) are in the form of discs and may be formed with projections forming four corners giving greater support in the slots. The stubs at the ends of the coupling may be spring mounted, and two of the couplings may be joined by meshing gears at their ends allowing transmission between the input and two outputs.
