The spring-biased slip coupling is used for a magnetic tape unit and has a coupling disc (7) positioned between two drive discs. One of the drive discs is fixed to the shaft (8) of the slip coupling and a take-up disc (20) is fixed to the shaft (8) on the opposite side of the second drive disc to the first drive disc fixed to the shaft. A second coupling disc (19) is positioned between the take-up disc (20) and the second drive disc. Pref the take-up disc (20) has a projecting pin (21) on the opposite side to the second coupling disc (19), fitting into a keying slot in a protective outer disc (9), the coupling shaft (8) passing through the inner enlarged end of the slot.
