The mobile burner (11) can be towed behind a tractor over the stubble, weeds or other plants to be destroyed. The heater (1) incorporates an attachment (12) for the burners and a heat shield (13). The heater from the burner attachment (12) to the back (15) of the screen (13) can for instance be 1.20 m, and its width 3 m. Twenty burners with compressed air inlets are inserted into fixtures (16) situated approximately 5 cms. apart. A shield (17) extends from the burner attachment (12) downwards. The heater rests on runners (18). The heat shield (13) may incorporate an inlet and a pipe with holes in, through which air is conducted to an enclosed box. The air passing through the box cools it and heats itself and flows out of holes in another pipe of larger diameter. The air, then passes through another pipe to the underneath of the heat-shield.
