The periodically pulsed dynamic gas laser has a closed circulation path for the working gas, for example a mixture of nitrigen, carbon dioxide and helium, the gas being enclosed between two pistons (1, 2) in two communicating cylinders (1', 2'). The pistons are connected to crankshafts whose rotary movements are coupled. Communication between the chambers is by way of a controlled closure (3), a laval nozzle system (4) for expansion of the gas, a resonator chamber (5) with mirrors and windows (6) for the production of and the coupling out of the laser radiation, and a diffuser (7) for partly restoring the gas pressure. The rotary speeds of the crank shafts are different, and the piston with the frequency is arranged in the cylinder which adjoins the diffuser.
