Surgical apparatus for ligature of blood vessels - has threaded cartridges carrying preformed knots sliding on rods in tubular body

The apparatus effects the ligature of sectioned blood vessels repetively and automatically. It consists of a tubular body with two longitudinal grooves inside. A rigid tube is fitted with an airtight joint to one extremity of the body to which a vacuum is applied. Several cartridges carrying the knotted ligature are threaded on the rod. Each cartridge consists of a tubular pivot which carries a preformed knot whose ends are fixed on a pivoting coaxial socket. Each part has spurs which slide in the grooves and the knot is tightened by rotating these until they are aligned.
