The windows and opening french doors are build from traditional (wood) and modern (aluminium) materials using mass production of standardised sections to reduce costs. The metal sections incorporate an electrical trace heating system. The sill for a sliding door has feet bolted into the concrete plinth by expanding bolts. The sill has a protruding ledge for running off water. The inside edge is faced with a wooden skirting and the traditional wooden frame runs along a rail built into the sill. Using standard sections, the dimensions and numbers of sections to the door can be varied.
