Decorative furniture mouldings with wooden cores mfr - by resin impregnation in mould with re-useable elastic lining

Pieces of furniture or objects d'art are made by enveloping a wooden core with a cast or injection moulded resin which impregnates and clads the core. Pref. the mould cavity comprises a split or hinged mould with an elastic lining which stretches to allow release of undercut profiles. Pref. the wood core and the resin shot are of similar wt. and opt. the resin is tinted. Opt. the ends of the moulding are capped to disguise the resin inlet. Suitable for reprodn. of furniture components with a wooden appearance but resistant to rot, damp or insect attack.
