Growth inhibitors for grasses - contg. benthiocarb and maleic hydrazide

Compsns. for inhibiting the growth of grasses contain (a) 0.2-5 pts. wt. of S-(4-chlorobenzyl) N,N-diethylthiocarbamate (benthiocarb) and (b) 1 pt. wt. of 1,2-dihydropyridazine-3,6-dione nmaleic hydrazide) or its salts. Components (a) and (b) act synergistically to control the growth of lawns, etc., without causing phytotoxic effects (browing or desiccation). The compsns. can also contain 0.1-3 pts. wt., per pt. wt. of (a), of a selective herbicide which does not attack grasses (esp. a chlorinated phenoxyalkanoic acid, salt or ester) and 0.1-2 pts. wt., per pt. wt. of (b), of a supplementary inhibitor (esp. N-(1-naphtyl)phthalamic acid or its esters or salts).
