There are several claws which project axially from two sides over the excitation winding into the cylindrical space between the excitation winding and stator. The excitation winding (22) is enclosed in a casing (16) which is fastened to the stator (11) by a ring (17). The winding is supplied with current by two leads (23) which pass through a groove in the stator winding (14). Three leads (15) carry the three phase current from the generator. The generator operates without the use of any slip rings.
