The machine has a stator (16) with a stator core (17) provided with stator slots, where stator has a stator winding (18) arranged section wise in the stator slots. A part of the stator winding arranged in the stator slots is connected with an end winding (45) by a coil section, where the stator winding is interrupted in a circumferential direction by gaps (63, 69). Rings (78, 81) are arranged radially within the gaps and fastened to a rotor (20), where the gaps exhibit an axial length. The rings cover is made of a non-magnetic material.
