The boot is used for competition ice skating and provides support for the wearer's ankle. Lacing is replaced by clamp straps and the skate is removable and fixed to the boot sole by screws. The boot is of the wrap-round type, having a longitudinal opening at the top. A rigid plastic is used for the boot and the ankle portion a fastening joining the two. Three clamp straps are used on the boot and two on the ankle. Each comprises a wire loop on one side, locating in one of a number of slots in a toggle on the other side.
