The support base (1) is wedge shaped and has longitudinal holes (10) to enable the supports to be aligned or moved. The support is voered with a cast steel box (2) which has no base and rests on the corners of the supports. The box is filled with sand. The sand level in the box is regulated by means of the leak holes (7) which may be closed to prevent further leakage. The box is covered with a rubber membrane (12) which in turn supports the wedges (3) and (4) placed under the keel.
