摘要
The chronometer unit is used in physiological experiments for studying the responses of laboratory animals to an applied stimulus. A stimulus is applied to the animal in response to a clock pulse and a probe with two electrodes, attached to the cortex of the animal at two spaced points, for measuring the evoked potential. The probe is connected to a differential amplifier the output voltage of which is supplied to a chronometer recorder, released by the clock pulse. The recorder includes a bistable comparator, which changes state in response to passage of the amplifier voltage through an adjustable initial level. An interface provides a reference pulse in response to each change of state, with the outputs of a switching circuit energised in sequence in response to the reference pulses, used to control a counter.
