Bakery machine to mfr. Swiss rolls partic. minirolls - replaces eight workers by continuously forming roll cylinder before cutting to prod. length
The roll is made from a sheet of cake mixt paste which is mixed and baked continuously. The baked sheet is spirally rolled upon itself by mechanical means to form a continuous cylinder which is then cut into individual roll lengths. The machine comprises a conveyor which carries the sheet through the oven. The baked sheet is then conveyed beneath a succession of fixed guides and rollers which lift one side edge of the sheet, roll it over upon itself and thus form a cylinder which is passed through a guillotine. The guides and rollers are pref. mounted adjustably on a carrier bar running longitudinally above the belt. The first guide is pref. a plough shape type blade which lifts the edge of the sheet. The rollers pref. have forming grooves with one or two side flanges. Used for mfg. 'Swiss' rolls, partic. mini-rolls of Genoa cake. Existing equipment can be inexpensively adapted for the new process. High capacity is obtained with a minimum of operatives, e.g. the machine which produces each minute 260 mini-rolls 7 cm. long x 3 cm. dia. replaced between 8 and 12 production workers.
