The plant is a variety of Saintpaulia Ionantha violet and named Evelyn, being a cross between type XIX 4231 blue male and type XIX 4295 blue female. Its flowers form a hemispherical bunch above a collar of flat lightly indented, round, large leaves, On their upper surface, the leaves are mid green, on their lower surface, light green; both sides are slightly downy. The flowers are single with smooth edges and are carried 9 to 12 on a stem. Each flower has five petals and is Victoria 738 violet in colour. They have a long flowering season and do not fall readily.
