The plant is a variety of Saintpaulia Ionantha violet and named Violetta, being a cross between type X 183 blue male and type IV 18 blue female. Its flowers form a hemispherical bunch above a collar of flat, smooth edged, small and slightly oval leaves. On their upper and lower surfaces, the leaves are light green, both sides are slightly downy. The flowers are single with smooth edges and are carried 5 to 9 on a stem. Each flower has five petals and is aconite violet 937/3 in colour. They have a long flowering season and do not fall readily.
