Packing unit with shrunk:on cowl - has unshrunk cowl no longer than stack in weld seam direction

The packing unit comprises a stack of piece goods enclosed in a cowl formed of welded and shrunk-on sheet material. The dimension (A) of the unshrunk cowl (1) in the direction of the weld seam (3) is equal to or less that that of the stack (B) in the same direction, while in the transverse direction the dimension of the cowl when folded but not shrunk is greater than that of the stack. In the shrunk condition the overlapping portion of the cowl can be on top of the stack, there being merely a single layer of sheet material at the stack edges at right angles to the weld seam. The line between the overlapping portion and the single-layer portion along the stack edge can be curved towards the centre of the stack top.
