The cargo vessel transports grain and also general cargo in large volume, having multiple decks forming holds for the cargoes. The decks are so constructed as to accommodate general cargo on them, but to allow granular cargo to flow through, so that the latter is loaded into the holds without having to dismantle any deck sections. Each deck can consist of a grille with openings for the passage of grain, but small enough for them to support and secure general cargo. Alternatively, each deck may be of net or perforated metal sheet.
