The thrust jet has twelve main adjuster segments and twelve auxiliary adjuster segments intermeshing with them. The jet adjuster segments together with their actuating mechanism are enclosed by a surrounding rim of overlapping jet casing flaps (19) patent 2617677. Both main adjuster segments and auxiliary segments are respectively sub-divided into upstream and downstream sections by pivot hinges (21) to permit the divergence angle to be selected. The main adjuster segments are displaced axially by a connecting ring (24). The ring is displaced axially by a screw spindle drive (25). The jet segments move by rollers (13, 14) in curved guide paths (28). The upstream situated roller (13) strikes a stop (41) at the end of the curved path (15) to terminate a first axial displacement when the jet has reached its maximum cross section. A further displacement of the connector ring causes the other rollers (27) to move along their curved paths (28) to the divergent angle.
