A highly specific antiserum with respect to human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is prepared by absorbing anti-HCG-&bgr;-subunit serum with HCG-&agr;-subunit. Such antiserum is suitable for use in radioimmunoassay of HCG in the presence of luteinizing hormone.
