We claim 1. A process for the electrolytic reduction of nitrobenzene to p-aminophenol by reducing a suspension of nitrobenzene in a supporting electrolyte of a mineral acid preferably sulphuric acid using a rotating/stationary amalgamated cathode of copper/monel characterised in that the reduction is carried out in a woden cell having blue asbestos cloth as diaphragm.
