A process for the electrochemical preparation of paraminobenzoic acid sulphate/para-aminobenzoic acid which consists in the electrolytic reduction of p-nitrobenzoic acid characterised in using a copper cathode either stationary or rotating and having a lead or lead alloy anode which has been separated from the catholyte by means of a porous diaphragm, with 10 to 25% by volume of sulphuric acid containing a catalyst 0.5% to 1.5% of TiOSUB2/SUB in the form of titanic sulphate solution as catholyte and 10 to 25% by volume of sulphuric acid as anolyte.
