1354341 Moulding foam sheets UNIFOAM AG 1 Sept 1971 [1 Sept 1970] 40838/71 Heading B5A [Also in Divisions B1-B2] In a method of producing a continuous polyurethane foam sheet, the liquid foamable reactants are fed into the bottom of a trough 12 in which they foam and expand and, before foaming is complete, flow over the top of a weir structure 30 on to a moving sheet 19 supported by a plate 16 and conveyer 13; two moving vertical side sheets 22 supported by side walls 24 define with the bottom sheet 19 an open topped channel shaped conveyer in which the partially formed foam is moved away from the weir structure and allowed to completely foam and cure. As shown in Fig. 2, the trough 12 is divided by baffles 29 into compartments, each of which is fed by a pipe 11a to ensure that reactants of the same "age" are received in all parts of the trough. Various modifications are described in which the shape and inclination of the plate 16 may be altered to accommodate different foamable mixtures having differing rates of foaming &c. (Figs. 3, 3a, not shown) and also in which the shape of the weir structure may be varied to ensure an even foam distribution across the conveyer (Figs. 5a, 5b, 5c, 6a, 6b, not shown). The conveyer may be completely horizontal, as in Fig. 7 (not shown).
