ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA master compositon for modifying the eutectic componentof eutectic and hypo-eutectic silicone-aluminum casting alloyscomprises an intimate admixture, in powder or compact from, ofa) particles of strontium-silicon and, in certain cases, b)particles of aluminum. The modification of the silicon-aluminumcasting alloys is achieved by adding to the alloy while the alloyis in molten form an effective amount of the master compositon,e.g., such as to introduce between about 0.005 and 0.4 percentby weight of strontium into said alloy.
