Air filter elements of paper - contg. cellulose and micro glass fibres

Filter papers are made from (a) 15-95 wt. % cotton linters or mercerised pulp or cellulose with a s.g. of 0.3-0.4 and a Potts porosity of 30000ml/min., based on an air dried sheet of 60g/m2 of unmilled or non-comminuted fibres, and (b) 5-50 wt. % micro glass fibres of 0.05-1.49 mu dia. The papers are esp. useful as air filters with a fibre dia. of 0.5-0.749 mu, 56.5 wt. % cotton linters with a s.g. of 0.3 and 17.5 wt. % kraft wood cellulose pulp. The paper may also contain a chemical binder such as starch, dextrin, carboxymethylcellulose, polyvinylalcohol or cross linked acrylic lattices.
