In insulating board mfr. by applying a homogeneous suspension of crushed micro-glass fibres in water onto a sieve base and dewatering the suspension with ultra-fine fibre addn. by suction through the sieve base, the novelty is that (a) the suspension is prepd. mainly with water contg. an ultra-fine fibre fraction; (b) the ultra-fine fibre fraction remains in the dewatered wet fibre material and is present in sufficient amount for binder reinforcement of the board; (c) the final board thickness is adjusted by the water suction from the suspension; and (d) the wet fibre material is furnace dried on the sieve base to form the board. USE/ADVANTAGE - The boards are used for heat insulation, sound insulation and mechanical vibration damping. They provide superior insulation compared with conventional boards.
