Mfr. of fibre-reinforced inorganic shaped bodies by dewatering an aq. fibre binder suspension (pulp) prepd. from an inorganic binder such as gypsum and/or cement, a fibrous material, and possibly pigments, fillers and other additives. The aq. suspension is prepd. from a fibrous material and a binder, with an excess of water. The suspension is then dewatered, and the filtrate is recycled for use as a process water for the suspension. The dewatered fibrous material is mixed with the binder suspension to give as fibre binder suspension, from which the shaped body is mfd. by dewatering. The recycled process water may be purified chemically, mechanically or biologically before use. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is used for the mfr. of products such as fibre-reinforced cement and fibre-reinforced gypsum articles, at lower cost than hitherto and with the minimisation of environmental pollution
