Tanned hides are conveyed through one or more cascades of PVC emulsion to receive controlled quantities of resin in one or more layers which are subsequently gelled in situ. Used for applying a waterproof coating to hides to be used for making shoes or other waterproof leather wear. The wet coating partially penetrates the pores of the hide, obtaining a good key for the resin. Matl. missing the hides may be collected and recycled.
