1439941 Animal feed supplement; silage IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 12 June 1973 [30 June 1972] 30765/72 Headings A1F and A2B An animal feed supplement, which may be sprayed on to a fresh grass or silage after admixture with a predetermined amount of liquid, comprises urea phosphate, a mixture of urea and phosphoric acid, or a mixture of urea and urea phosphate, gelled with a thixotropic agent, in an amount such that on adding liquid a pseudoplastic thixotropic gel containing 0.2 to 3% of the agent and having a viscosity of greater than 10 poise is formed. The liquid added may be water or propylene glycol. The thixotropic agent may be a hydrophilic colloid, e.g. xanthan gum, carboxy vinyl polymer, water-soluble sodium polyacrylate, a cellulose derivative, a polysaccharide derived from or contained in biomass (single cell protein), or a methyl vinyl ether/maleic anhydride copolymer. Also present may be molasses, urea, urea phosphate, phosphoric acid, and a vitamin/mineral supplement.
