ELECTRONIC INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE IGNITIONSPARK VACUUM AND SPEED ADVANCE SYSTEM WITHIGNITION DWELL TIME DIRECTLY PROPORTIONALTO ENGINE SPEEDAbstract of the Disclosure:A first and a second series of phase displacedleading and trailing electrical signal wave forms of apotential level proportional to engine speed are generatedin timed relationship with the engine, the potential levelof the first series being greater than that of the secondseries over the engine speed range, and an absolute pressuretransducer produces an engine manifold absolute pressureelectrical signal of a potential level proportional to enginemanifold absolute pressure. The engine manifold absolutepressure signal and the leading and trailing electrical waveform series are compared by respective comparator circuits.While the potential level of each of the leading electricalsignal wave forms is equal to or greater than that of theengine manifold absolute pressure signal, the correspondingcomparator circuit produces an output ignition dwell signaland when the potential level of each of the trailing elec-trical signal wave forms has increased to that of the enginemanifold absolute pressure signal, the corresponding compara-tor circuit produces an output ignition signal. An electronicignition circuit is responsive to each of the ignition dwellsignals for completing and to each of the ignition signalsfor interrupting, respectively, an energizing circuit for theprimary winding of an associated ignition coil.
