The vehicle has two pairs of wheels, front steering, and an engine propelling the vehicle and driving the milling roller by means of a CArdan shaft and transmission gear. The height of the milling roller in relation to the road is adjusted by a hydraulic cylinder operating on the mounting. On each side, on the mounting is a drive-mechansim consisting of two or three support wheels behind each other in the direction of travel, whose height can be adjusted, in order to set the milling depth, by means of a rack jack. The drive mechanism may possess extra guide rods in the mounting for stabilising the vehicle. The support wheels are preferably arranged in staggered formation.
