A display board for information uses an array of spring biased plungers of a transparent material that allow a manually selected optical display. Typicall the array of plungers (15) may be used on an information in a company to indicate the availability of personnel e.g. available (ANW), absen (ABW), available at a certain time (10) (12 etc.) The personnel names are located on the left hand side of the board (18) and relate to a specific row of plungers. Each plunger is cylindrical and is spring biased to project from the front panel (11). When pressed a sleeve on the plunger engages a retaining clip, and in this position transmits light from a source within the housing. The display appears as a combination of point illuminations.
