The mechanism for loosening and removing bulk material consisting of cohering particles, such as copra, comprises a suction duct (4) at the orifice (10) of which there is a rotatable cutter in the form of an open worm screw (6). The duct can be moved about horizontal and vertical axes. The worm screw terminates in a point (9) whose centre line extends from the duct. It consists of a number of strips which, starting from the pointed end, are bent to form the helical screw windings.
