The anti-blocking brake system has two levels of modulation so that a smooth brake release is obtained over a range of retardations. The re-application of the brake pressure is also controlled in two stages so that the cyclic variation of the wheel speed is kept as smooth as possible. Simple bistable switching circuits are used to provide the two levels of pressure increase, depending on the dynamics of the vehicle wheel. The brake pressures are kept within a set amplitude so that a smoother and more effective brake control is possible.
