A piezoelectric ignition device, partic. for use in gas type cigarette lighters, having a housing with coaxially mounted piezoelement, cap type push button and return spring with a striker bolt within the push button having a bulged gudgeon pin type fitting. The construction is such that the housing is of generally rectangular or square cross section, and has a guide for the spindle type push button which fits neatly within the housing cross section. The long shank of the guide has an enlarged section to accommodate the gudgeon pin type fitting.
