Centimetre wavelength quadrupole non reciprocal attenuator - has ferrite slice between grid plates and has ceramic discs with pole piece, temp.dependent layers and magnets
The non-reciprocal attenuator for metre or centimetre wavelengths has a frame (6) enclosing a ferrite slice with a layer of low loss, heat conducting material each side, such as quartz. This is mounted between two laminated insulating plates (2, 3) each with a pattern of conductors across it, to which connections are made. - Each side is a ceramic disc (7, 8) and a pole piece (9, 10) follow by layers (13, 14) of magnetic material such as thermoflux (RTM) which is temperature dependent. These are followed by permanent magnets (11, 12) between yoke pieces (15, 16). The laminated insulating plates (2, 3) are connected to the frame (6) and the ferrite slice by adhesive foil.
