Carbon black mfr - from coke oven gas and coal tar vapours mixed with natural gas and petroleum vapours

A mixt. of coke over gas mixed with 0-50 vol.% natural gas is saturated with vapour from a mixt. of coal tar oil with 0-50 vol.% low-aromatic petroleum distillate is burnt, in the diffusion flame of a batswing burner with an angle between the burner and the adjacent carbon black deposition surface of 0 degree-45 degrees or 45 degrees-90 degrees. With an angle of 0 degree a black is obtained which can replace channel black, while with 90 degrees angle, a high quality active furnace black replacement is obtained. The blacks are suitable for use in rubber (e.g. tyres) and paints. Efficiency of the process and quality of the blacks are improved by the addition of natural gas and petroleum distillate.
