Advancing face support for mining operations has base (10)on which are swivable mounted hydraulic props (16, 101). The props support an upper main cap (11) and an auxiliary cap (18) which is swivable attached to the end of the main cap. - The auxiliary cap is supported by a prop (16) whose upper end is hinged (15) to a rocking beam (13) having one end swivable attached to the hinge (12) to which the end of the auxiliary cap is fixed. A two-armed lever (20) is mounted on the hinge pin (12) and has one arm pair (201) coupled swivable on the side walls of the auxiliary cap. The two caps have an enclosed box profile.
