Pulsed radar system with target centre detection - compares amplitudes of delayed and undelayed echo pulses where pulse width is much longer than delay time
Pulsed radar system with target centre detection - compares amplitudes of delayed and undelayed echo pulses where pulse width is much longer than delay time
The pulsed radar system detects the target centre using a relatively wide echo pulse. The incoming echo pulse (E1) is fed to a delay device (VE) whose delay time (t) is short compared to the pulse duration. The delayed echo pulse (E1V) and the undelayed echo pulse (E1) are fed to a comparison circuit (VS). This produces a short output signal (ZM1) indicating the target centre if the two echo pulses have the same amplitude. Pref. the delay time is selected so that the echo pulses have the same amplitude at approx. half the maximum amplitude value (Ao/2).
